CEF (City Electrical Factors) is among the first UK electrical distributors to have its net zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

CEF has committed to:

  • Reducing absolute scope 1 emissions (those produced directly by the company) and scope 2 emissions (indirect energy emissions) by 63% in the near term, as well as cutting absolute scope 3 emissions (produced indirectly across the value chain) by 63% by 2033 from a 2023 baseline.

– In the long-term – by 2040 – CEF aims to achieve net zero on scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions from a 2023 baseline.

CEF’s actions include electrifying its fleet and investing in solar energy.

Connor Dalton, Director of Sustainability, Health & Safety at CEF, said: “Validating our net-zero targets through the SBTi is about more than just numbers; it’s about accountability. We are committed to inspiring positive change across the electrical industry and creating a brighter future for everyone.”

SBTi is the world’s fastest-growing voluntary corporate climate initiative, trusted by over 11,000 companies and financial institutions worldwide. UK-based, it was founded as a collaboration between CDP, United Nations Global Compact, We Mean Business Coalition, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

It develops standards, tools, and guidance which enable companies and financial institutions worldwide to take credible, science-based climate action.
