Bees swarm into Barwell’s new hive

A new hive and its bees have been installed at Barwell Business Park as part of the ongoing sustainability enhancements.

Provided by The Beesmax project, the hive has been placed in a lovely area of the park alongside two bug hotels. The bees recently arrived from Epsom to take up residence.

The business park team first met Beesmax at the Kingston Business Expo earlier this year and we were delighted to see them again, at the Chessington Business Expo on October 26.

BeesMax is a not-for-profit organisation with the sole aim of reversing the decline of the UK bee population.

Ken Butcher, Asset Manager, Aviva Investors, said: “As part of our sustainability ambitions, we have been looking at bringing bees to the business park for some time. Half of the bee population has died out and with bees pollinating 70 of around 100 crop species that feed 90% of the world, they are a vital species. We are delighted to have been able to work with a local partner to support the bee population.”
