Coughlans Bakery has teamed up with comedian, presenter and actor Romesh Ranganathan to create the Ranga yum yum in aid of suicide prevention charity, CALM.

A donation of 20p from the sale of each chocolate and biscoff flavoured Ranga, will support CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) which has Romesh as patron.

On his reasons for supporting the charity, Romesh referred to a difficult time in his life and said: “Despite cracking jokes for a living, I’ve had many low points in my life which have hammered home just how important help is when you’re struggling.

“I’m not sure where I’d be today if I didn’t get help when I hit rock bottom. In fact, I don’t know if I’d be here at all.”

After the Ranga yums yums launched, he said on his Instagram account: “I am absolutely delighted and excited to present to you the Ranga Yum Yum,” adding, “It’s a great, great thing, it’s a career highlight. Please go get yourself one.”

Sean Coughlan of Coughlans Bakery told Surrey Live how the partnership came about, saying: “I put it to Romesh. I said ‘look, I want to do something for CALM. I want to come up with a product. What are your favourite things?’”

The 52-year-old then said he wanted his bakeries to be a vehicle to support the charity and continued: “I wanted it to be a product we can hopefully sell lots of to raise as much as we can.”
