05 Apr Dernier & Hamlyn-manufactured Moon Flower light shortlisted for industry award
A ‘Moon Flower’ light designed for a children’s hospice and manufactured by Dernier & Hamlyn, has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
The light sculpture was designed by creative electronics firm, Ideaworks, for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice in High Barnet, Hertfordshire, which has the mission “to enable those we support to enjoy life as children, rather than as patients”.
Manufactured by Dernier & Hamlyn, the light was shortlisted for a [d]arc award in the Art: Bespoke category.
The light sculpture can be viewed from all angles and sits in the centre of the looping path of a sensory garden. At dusk, the seven glowing moons alternately fade on a slow continuous loop, and when night falls, they ‘float’ among the blackness of the trees in the adjacent woodland.
