23 May Kingston International Film Festival – tickets now on sale
Tickets are now on sale for the Kingston International Film Festival (KIFF) which runs from 21 to 23 June.
The festival brings independent filmmakers, industry professionals and the local community together for screenings, workshops, and events, culminating on the Sunday evening with the KIFF Awards Presentation for films across eight categories, ranging from best Short Film to Feature Film.
KIFF provides a platform for filmmakers from around the world, and in particular up and coming talent, to showcase their projects on the big screens of the Odeon, Curzon, Rose Theatre, and an outdoor screen in the riverside setting of Canbury Gardens.
Highlights include Tom Holland starring in ‘Last Call’ on Friday 21 June, ‘David Bowie,’ an insight into the singer’s life on-screen on Saturday 22 June and Joanna Lumley in ‘My Week with Maisy’ on Sunday 23 June.
Rising star, India Amarteifio, joins award-winning director, Mike Newell, and award-winning actress, Vanessa Redgrave, as Festival patron this year.
Born in Kingston, India has a wealth of credits under her belt having begun her career on stage in London’s West End. Following her on stage roles, India then progressed to TV appearances including ‘Line of Duty’, ‘Sex Education’ and ‘The Midwich Cuckoos’.
In 2023, she portrayed Queen Charlotte in the period drama series ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’ for which she was nominated at the NAACP Awards for Outstanding Actress as well as the Astra TV Awards. In addition, she appeared on the 2023 Variety list of 10 Brits to Watch, she was named a Bright Young Thing by Tatler and was The Voice of The Next Generation honoree at the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards 2023.
