Andrew MacKinlay is the new councillor for Chessington South after securing 1,387 votes in the 6 May by-election.
The Liberal Democrat nominee won the seat vacated by Tricia Bamford who retired after 22 years. A long-time Malden Rushett resident, Cllr MacKinlay is campaigning to save the Chessington Police front desk on Arcade Parade and is passionate about defending the Green Belt from development.
Councillor MacKinlay beat candidates from parties including Labour, the Conservatives, Greens and The Official Monster Raving Loony Party – who pledged in their ‘manicfesto’ to extend Chessington World of Adventures’ ‘Tiger Rock’ water ride to The Maypole pub in Surbiton for commuters to use during the rush hour.
