Occupier event: see Barwell’s bees at close range on 3 October

Barwell occupiers are invited to a unique and exciting event on Thursday 3 October, where they can view the business park’s bees up close in their chimney apiary.

The newest colony, living inside a chimney pot in Epsom, was rescued by Mark Gale from BeesMax in August and taken to Barwell’s apiary. The colony remains within its chimney pot inside a wooden beehive.

The “Meet the bees” event will run from 1 to 2 pm. Mark will meet guests at the roadside gate next to Steris IMS’s car park. They will then be taken to the apiary and asked to put on a beekeeper suit to observe the bees in their new home.

Spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Email markg@beesmax.org to book your place.

BeesMax is a not-for-profit company with the sole aim of reversing the decline of the UK bee population. Up to 50 per cent of colonies are dying out each year, while 85% of the earth’s plant species require pollinators to exist.

This event follows the Barwell-sponsored ‘AI in Action’ business breakfast at Chessington World of Adventures.
