05 Nov OUTSTANDING REFITS FOR BARWELL BUSINESS PARK MARK IT OUT AS AN INDUSTRY LEADER
Barwell Business Park is nudging ahead in the industrial space market thanks to the high-quality of its units which are being upgraded as part of an ongoing refurbishment programme.
Extensive refurbishment works are now well advanced on Unit 50 and expected to be completed in December. Works on Unit 71 are also expected to start shortly.
The full refurbishment of Unit 81 finished this month and it is already under offer to a new occupier. Unit 82 was recently completed prior to Dernier & Hamlyn occupying it and Unit 64 has also undergone works prior to its letting to Stulz.
The refurbishment programme has been taking place over the last few years and this year, the business park also expanded the permitted planning use on some available units. This will enable companies such as research & development (R&D) specialists to have greater flexibility over their operations.
Park owner, Aviva Investors, changed the use of these units via the planning process to include R&D in addition to the existing consented uses, which include manufacturing, distribution and light industrial. With planning consent from the local authority already in place, it means new businesses can bypass the sometimes-lengthy planning process and immediately begin operating at their new location.
Colin Lawrence-Waterhouse, Asset Manager, Aviva Investors, said: “Barwell Business Park has many attributes including its strong location, on-site amenities and proximity to major transport links. By directing attention to our units and what occupiers tell us they require, we are able to maintain the Park’s position as a sector leader. Our extensive refurbishment programme is proving a real differentiator, with many new lettings secured prior to works completing. This shows the importance of being able to offer businesses high-quality spaces that not only provide them with a great working environment, but that also make a strong impression on their clients”.
