Surbiton-based Genuine Solutions has launched a recycling scheme for employees to recycle their used mobile technology from the office and home.

To make it as easy as possible, collection points can be set up for businesses and to ensure safe disposal, the technology is processed at Genuine Solutions’ central facilities in line with the latest environmental compliance, with all data wiped from donated devices.

The company also has an Employee Buyers Club so employees can buy refurbished devices for business and home, at discounted prices. QR codes can be placed in offices and newsletters for easy access to the product range and simplified ordering.

Genuine Solutions said: “Our core objective is to reuse 100% of what we receive as we believe this is the best form of recycling. Any margin generated will be shared and can be donated to a charity of your choice.”

The company, which has won a host of awards including the highly prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise, set up the scheme in response to concerns on how devices, power banks and charge/data leads were being disposed of.

Since 2005, they have recovered and distributed more than 90 million mobile devices and accessories, preventing more than 9,000 tonnes of technology waste from ending up in landfill sites.

On average, they process and recycle more than 250,000 mobile phone accessories per month.
