Kingston Council is asking local businesses for their views on using vehicle tracking systems, switching to electric vehicles and e-cargo bikes, and offering the opportunity to take part in pilot schemes.

Following its declaration of a Climate Emergency in 2019, the council would like to support businesses in the borough to transition to lower carbon forms of activity. With the 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars now looming and energy suppliers investing heavily in rapid charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, there are many opportunities.

Kingston Council will use business feedback to apply for funding to undertake research and support future applications for funding and grants to aid the transition to electric vehicles.

The council also proposing a pilot study where businesses can trial a vehicle tracking system or a cargo bike.
