United Business Group offers top tips on reducing carbon emissions from workplace printing

United Business Group is offering advice to businesses on how to move closer to net zero with their workplace printing, in its latest blog.

The company highlights several breakthroughs in printing technology to help achieve these targets. They include:

  • Highly efficient inkjet printers can be up to 90% more efficient than laser printers
  • A worldwide switch from laser to inkjet printers could mean a global reduction of energy emissions of over 52%
  • A global switch to inkjet printers could save 2,240 GWh (gigawatt hours) of electricity each year

The revolutionary, piezoelectric heat-free printing method used by Epson uses piezoelectric materials, such as crystals, which produce internal electric charge when subjected to mechanical stress.

As United explains, this is a low-power, low-environmental impact alternative to laser-printing and some inkjet printers, which are reliant on heat and therefore reliant on energy consumption.

Businesses may also want to consider managed print services, where an external company manages every aspect of your company’s printing.

Investing in a managed print services provider such as United Business Group means that a company’s printing costs can be lowered exponentially as a result of the economies of scale.

United Business Group provides proactive monitoring of your company’s entire printing infrastructure to ensure minimum downtime. Its technicians are DBS-checked and hold military-grade security clearance.

United Business Group will be in the Green Zone at Chessington Expo on October 26, discussing sustainability.
