Dernier & Hamlyn’s Fitzrovia hotel chandelier showcased

Dernier & Hamlyn’s stunning lighting is hitting the headlines again – with the company’s bespoke work featuring on the front cover and inside spreads of Interior Designer magazine.

The May edition showcases the bespoke chandelier created for the penthouse suite of The Mandrake Hotel in Fitzrovia, in partnership with designer Lara Bohinc.

The RIBA award-winning hotel’s concept is about make-believe with décor featuring mythological creatures and drawing inspiration from the medicinal mandrake plant.

Dernier & Hamlyn Director, Michael Mulhall, was interviewed by the magazine for a general piece on design inspiration for lighting, and said: “With bespoke lighting, inspiration comes to the designers we work with from all sorts of places and senses, and we help by providing ideas and inspiration. The right lighting is pivotal to creating an appropriate ambience in most places. Nowhere is this truer than in luxury hospitality where high quality bespoke lighting is invariably used to set the tone in reception areas, restaurants and bars.”

He added: “Where architectural context is important designers often refer to our extensive lighting archive which has been built up over Dernier & Hamlyn’s 130-year history.”
